Skaket Beach – Cape Cod bay beach where at low tide you can take a good walk out through the tidal pools and over the flats. Great kid-friendly beach. Tends to be calmer and warmer waters. Great place for sunsets.
Rock Harbor – There is a small beach but mostly this is a place to catch a fun fishing charter adventure or watch the fishing boats come in or out and a stunning sunset spot.
Nauset Beach – Atlantic Ocean beach. Tends to have waves and colder waters. Gorgeous beach and has great food at Liam’s.
Crystal Lake – Is a beautiful fresh water lake off Monument Rd. across from Keziahs Lane
Pilgrim Lake – Freshwater lake to enjoy a nice kid-friendly swimming area or take a kayak or paddle board out for a relaxing paddle.
In addition to the great beaches here in Orleans there are activities for everyone to enjoy. Here are some of things to do in Orleans.
Bike Trail runs through Orleans Village. It goes toward Brewster at Nickerson State Park and in the other direction is goes up to the National Seashore in Eastham. It is a great activity to enjoy here. Start across the street from The Hot Chocolate Sparrow and enjoy the rail trail in either direction. Do one way on your first ride and the other way on your second.
Orleans Firebirds Baseball Games are great fun for the whole family. The Orleans Firebirds play at Eldredge Park across from the Police Station at Nauset Middle School. Typically games start at 7 PM but sometimes they have afternoon games on Sundays. Check the Cape Cod Baseball Schedule for details.
Mini Golf: There is a great mini golf course at Cape Escape Adventure located at 14 Canal Rd. There is also a bike rental and ice cream across the street.
Hikes: There is a nice hike / walk at Kent’s Point. From Monument Rd. take Frost Fish Lane and follow signs.
Another hike that we like in Orleans is from Priscilla Landing in Nauset Heights out to the outer beach of Nauset Beach. Park at the end of Priscilla Lane walk to the right along the water and just follow the trail out over the dune to the beach.
In Eastham there are a few great hikes that worth driving up from Orleans to enjoy. The first one is Fort Hill. From Route 6 go up toward Provincetown and go about 1.4 miles and turn right onto Governor Prence to right on Fort Hill. Park in either first parking lot on left or drive to the end. The swamp trail is great as well.
Head up to the Cape Cod National Seashore Salt Pond Visitor Center for some great hikes and trails. The trails are free.
